First Books
Through a collaboration with Weimar Elementary School, books are applied for from First Books National at a reduced rate. Then through the Book Bag Project, PAT Educators bring a different bag with children’s books to each visit.
In 2018-2019, a total of 1,100 books were received and given to children in the PAT program. |
Reach Out & Read
ROR is a literacy program that has an impact on the development, as well as on the health, of the children physicians serve. During well-child checkups at Youens & Duchicela Clinic in Weimar, physicians give the child an age appropriate book and prescribe daily reading to the family. This fosters the language-rich interactions between parent and their young child which will stimulate early brain development.
